Once a year visitors from all over the country enjoy the sights and sounds of 18th century Hampton overrun by pirates. Hampton’s waterfront comes alive with dozens of pirate re-enactors, costumed in historically accurate garb, who transform today’s Hampton into the busy seaport of yesterday. Led by Blackbeard the Pirate himself, re-enactors help visitors step back in time and re-live the history and legends of 1718 Hampton. The Festival offers a variety of children’s activities, live musical entertainment, fireworks, period vendors, arts and crafts, and much more!

Join the Franklin City Department of Social Services in their 3rd Annual “No Excuse for Child Abuse” event to help spread the word about Child Abuse Prevention and raise money for the Department’s Child Abuse Prevention Fund.

This year will be their 3rd Annual Poker Run starting at 10:00 a.m. from Paul D. Camp Community College, but this year there will also be a Cornhole Tournament, lunch catered by Nixon’s BBQ and tons of FREE fun for the kids such as a Bounce House, Clown, Face Painting, Balloon Animals and Cotton Candy.

On April 12th of this year Middle Peninsula Jeep  Association Incorporated lost on of our dear friends and he left behind a daughter who is 6 years old. The Middle Peninsula Jeep Association Incorporated is sponsoring this fundraiser to help establish a college fund for Joe DeRose’s daughter Kyra Joy. There will also be a  ”Show N’ Shine” in the parking lot of the Texas RoadHouse where we will have a bunch of Jeeps and off road vehicles on display and Texas RoadHouse will be donating 10% of their profits made that day.

Bass Only Division:  5 Fish Per Boat Artificial bait, 12” minimum
$25.00 – adults (plus $5.00 launch fee)
$15.00 – 15 yrs and under.
Open & Junior Divisions: (Live or artificial bait) 6:15AM-2:15 PM
Each participant will be allowed to weigh in 5 fish.
Fishing from Boat: Bass (12” minimum), Crappie, & Catfish only
Fishing from Shore: (Marina only) Weigh in what you catch.
$25.00 – adults plus $5 launch fee (boats) or $2 shore fee.
$15.00 – 15 yrs. and under. Juniors compete only against other juniors.  (First child pays, second is free)
All participants in the same boat must be in the same division.
All state regulations must be followed.
Registration date and time will determine order of blastoff.
Wayne Hayes will be doing the weigh in.
Cut off date to receive a participant certificate is May 26
Pre-registration ends on May 30

“Swingtime Salute, An On-Deck Revue” will be back on deck of the Battleship Wisconsin this June and July. Presented by Nauticus and Virginia Stage Company in partnership with USO of Hampton Roads and Central Virginia, the 1940′s-themed show will showcase a live swing band and tunes from the Andrews Sisters, Duke Ellington, Hoagy Carmichael, George and Ira Gershwin, Cab Calloway and more.

Swingtime Salute will run 8 p.m. every Wednesday through Saturday beginning June 5 to July 6. Four 2 p.m. matinee performances will be held inside the Nauticus Theater on June 26 and 29 and July 3 and 6.

General admission tickets range from $30 to $40. Tickets are $20 for children 4 to 12 years old. Discounts for Nauticus and VSC season members, retired military and AAA members. Free for active duty military. VIP tickets also available.
