Deep Purple might snub Hall of Fame induction

Deep Purple star Roger Glover has revealed he and his bandmates are considering turning down an inevitable induction to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame after a series of snubs.

The rocker insists the honor is “20 years too late” and he no longer cares whether he lands an induction or not after the band was overlooked in 2013 and 2014, despite getting nominated.

Glover said, “We’re kind of ambivalent about The Hall Of Fame. We don’t care about it that much. If they do induct us, then they’re at least 20 years too late as far as I’m concerned.

“They should have done it when Jon Lord was still alive when it probably would have had a bit more meaning.

“If we do get in, and decide to accept it, which is up in the air, we might just say, ‘Forget it.'”

And the rock legend admits that he and frontman Ian Gillan have differing views on who should join them onstage if they do decide to accept the induction honor: “He (Gillan) says (guitarist) Steve Morse has been in the band for 20 years, but I think Ritchie Blackmore deserves to be there. The right thing, if we ever do it, would be to have both of them there.

“Some of the best and worst things happened to me because of Ritchie. He’s a wonderful, wonderful guitarist, writer and character… We got on really well for years.”

REVIEW: In-fighting is entertaining in ‘Captain America: Civil War’

"Civil War" stands out as certainly the biggest of the stand-alones, and among the best because of what it has in common with the better films in the Marvel universe: the conflict is deeply human, told humorously, and best enjoyed if you don't overthink it.
