SAGA COMMUNICATIONS, INC. “WIN ARLO’S SHED” CONTEST RULES
1) No purchase is necessary to enter this 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX contest.
2) All contestants must be permanent residents of Virginia or Northeastern North Carolina within range of the WAFX air signal and must provide 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX with a valid form of identification and Social Security number satisfactory to 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX management.
3) Subject to rule (4) below, all contestants must be at least 18 years old to be eligible to participate in this contest since power equipment is included as prizes.
4) One entry per person. The individual who wins this prize will be issued a 1099 Federal Income Tax Form by 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX, and are ineligible to win a prize valued at $500.00 or more for a period of one calendar year from the date of winning. If it is determined that a selected contestant is ineligible as a result of one or both of these restrictions, another contestant will be selected. This selection procedure will continue until these restrictions are satisfied.
5) Methodology: 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX will hold 5 on-site events. Contestants must fill out an official registration blank at the event. Entries will not be accepted any other way. One entry per person; must be present to enter. At the end of each event, one name will be randomly drawn from all of the registration forms. That contestant will be considered a “finalist” and will then be eligible to “Win Arlo’s’ Shed” at the final event. Contestant must be available to attend the final event on 4/22/10 in order to be eligible to win. There will be five “finalists.”
Dates, times, and locations are as follow:
Thursday, 3/18/10, 12pm – 2pm at Land & Coates, 300C Battlefield Blvd., Chesapeake, VA; Thursday, 3/25/10, 12pm – 2pm at Land & Coates, 12911 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, VA; Wednesday, 3/31/10, 12pm – 2pm at Land & Coates, 3775 Bonney Road, Virginia Beach, VA; Thursday, 4/8/10, 12pm – 2pm at Land & Coates, 5808 Churchland Blvd., Portsmouth, VA; Thursday, 4/22/10, 10am – 3pm at Land & Coates, 830 Poplar Hall Drive, Norfolk, VA.
The last “Finalist” will be chosen at 2pm on 4/22/10. You must enter prior to 2pm that day in order to be eligible. All 5 “finalists” must be present at 2pm on 4/22/10 in order to be eligible to “Win Arlo’s Shed.”
The 5 “finalists” will each be given a key and will attempt to open the lock on “Arlo’s Shed.” Only one key will actually open the lock. The entrant who holds the key that opens the lock will be the final winner and will win the “Win Arlo’s Shed” contest and all of the prizes.
6) Prizes:
Stihl trimmer Model FS-55R. Retail value: $229.95
Toro 21” Recycler mower – Model 20333. Retail value: $419.95
Honda EU2000ia portable inverter generator. Retail value: $1,149.95
Duro Shed 8 x 10-foot Gable-style wood-sided shed. Retail Value: $2179.00
7) Prizes must be picked up by the winners at the 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX business office or other pre-arranged or pre-announced location within thirty (30) days of notification to the winner, unless there is a deadline date by which the prizes must be picked up, in which case, that date will be specifically stated. Otherwise, failure to pick up the prizes by the deadline will result in the forfeiture of the prize, which shall remain the property of 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX assumes no liability for the delivery of prizes.
8) In the event the winner is subject to, or the subject of, any order or legal process issued by any governmental agency having jurisdiction over the affairs of the winner (i.e. garnishment, child support order, judgment, lien, and the like), 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX's delivery of the prize to the official representative of the governmental entity claiming a right to the prize shall be thus deemed as 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX awarding the prize to the winner. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX shall be entitled to rely in good faith, upon any documents presented by the representative seeking to collect the prize in lieu of the winner. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX shall not be liable for any claim by any winner for damages incidental thereto.
9) As a condition of entering a contest, contestants must agree that upon winning, they will consent to the use of their name, likeness, and all verbal and written communications with 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX for publicity purposes.
10) Employees of 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX (Tidewater Communications, Inc.), (and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc.), their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WAFX main studio are not eligible to win any contest. Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.
11) All prizes are non-transferable and are not redeemable for cash. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX reserves the right to substitute a prize of similar value. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX cannot be held responsible for unforeseen cancellations or delays of concerts/events or transportation caused by weather, promoter or performer.
12) Winners are solely responsible for all applicable local, state and federal taxes. Winner will be issued a 1099 MISC federal tax form from 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX.
13) 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX,(TIDEWATER COMMUNICATIONS, INC.), assumes no liability for liability, damages, situations, repairs, or incidents arising from any aspect of any prize awarded in any contest. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX, (TIDEWATER COMMUNICATIONS, INC.), all participating co-sponsor companies and their advertising and promotional agencies, affiliates thereof, employees, and immediate families of each absolve themselves and shall be held harmless from any action or liability arising from any contest or prize awarded in any contest. As a condition of entering a contest, participants may be required, upon winning, to sign a release form and affidavit of eligibility to claim their prize. Failure to do so will result in forfeiture of the contestant’s right to claim or receive the prize.
14) All giveaways and contests are void where prohibited by law. All local, state and federal regulations apply. As a licensee of the FCC and a trustee of the public airwaves, 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX reserves the right to interrupt and/or discontinue any contest or promotion (and not award the offered prize) at the discretion of 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX management if world events, the national mood, or public safety so warrant. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX reserves the right to disqualify any winner if the contest rules have been violated in any way. 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX reserves the right to amend the rules to any contest at any time. All decisions of 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX are final.
15) Although 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX will make reasonable efforts to conduct its contests substantially as announced or advertised, 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX reserves the right in extraordinary situations to change or modify the rules of its contests as exigent circumstances may require. In such cases, 106.9 THE FOX/WAFX will amend the rules for that contest and broadcast the amended rules as promptly as possible. In such case, the contest will be conducted in accordance with the amended rules.
