Facebook saves another birthday.

A girl named Mackenzie Moretter turned ten last week, and wanted to have a birthday party near her home in Shakopee, Minnesota, near Minneapolis.  She suffers from a genetic disorder called Sotos Syndrome, which causes a bunch of developmental issues.  She doesn’t have many friends, and her mom realized none of the kids they invited to her party were going to show up.  So she posted about it on Facebook last Friday, and asked if anyone could bring their kids, just to have some people there.  And the next morning . . . more than 300 people showed up.  The Facebook message specifically said not to worry about presents, they just wanted people there.  But Mackenzie ended up with a huge pile of gifts anyway.  Also, Sam’s club and a local restaurant catered it . . . a woman who impersonates Elsa from “Frozen” showed up . . . Vikings wide receiver Charles Johnson came . . . and the mayor gave her a certificate, dubbing it, “Mackenzie Moretter Day.”
