1966: The Beatles play their last paid concert, wrapping up their tour at Candlestick Park in San Francisco as they turn their focus to studio work. The band did 11 songs in just over a half an hour but performed no songs from their album, “Revolver” had just been released a few weeks earlier.

1986: The George Harrison produced movie “Shanghai Surprise” starring Madonna bombs at the box office and ripped apart by critics. George would comment afterwards, “She doesn’t have a sense of humor, which is unfortunate, because it was a comedy.”

1990: Elton John checks into a rehab center in Chicago to get treatment for bulimia, alcoholism and drugs.

1992:  U2 became the second rock act to perform at Yankee Stadium (Billy Joel was the first), with two shows at the legendary baseball venue.

2007:  The Police began their reunion tour at Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.
