1978 – The Who announce that Kenney Jones of The Faces would be joining the band to replace the late Keith Moon on drums.
1982 – Would have liked to been at this meeting. Bob Dylan visits Frank Zappa plays Zappa with a dozen songs, afterwards Dylan asked Zappa to produce his next album. That never happens however, Mark Knopfler produces Dylan’s next album “Infidels”.
1987 – After a heavy night of partying Motley Crue’s Nikki Sixx overdosed on heroin and is pronounced dead on arrival. Sixx is revived with two shots of adrenaline in his chest, the incident inspires Motley Crue’s “Kickstart My Heart”.
1991 – Gregg Allman makes his acting debut as a drug kingpin in the movie “Rush”.
2002 – The Clash’s Joe Strummer dies of a Heart attack at the age of 50. The Clash were set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame a few months later.
2014 – Joe Cocker dies of lung cancer at age 70.
