1968 – Eric Burdon announces that The Animals are breaking up at the end of the year. Eric would later join the band War.

1973 – What a bizarre story… Fleetwood Mac’s manager, Clifford Davis creates his own version of Fleetwood Mac with unknown musicians. It’s tour doesn’t do so well as the new band doesn’t last long and the Fleetwood Mac band wins the rights to their name after years of litigation.

1999 – The Eagles held a press conference with the RIAA to announce that their first “Greatest Hits” album is the biggest selling album of the century with sales of 26 million.

2008 – The Who’s Roger Daltrey & Pete Townshend are honored at the Kennedy Center Honors for their contributions to American culture

2016 – Emerson, Lake and Palmer’s Greg Lake dies at 69 after a battle with cancer.
