1968 – Genesis release their first single, “The Silent Sun.” and no one noticed
1977 – The Eagles released the single for “Hotel California.”
1978 – The Police appeared in a Wrigley’s Chewing Gum commercial, and even dyed their hair blonde for the appearance, an appearance they would keep throughout their career.
1983 – Styx releases the concept album Kilroy Was Here, the album featured Mr. Roboto a song that would become a point of contention between Dennis DeYoung and other members in the band.
1989 – in one of the biggest upsets in Grammy History, Jethro Tull wins the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance Vocal or Instrumental Grammy award for their album Crest of a Knave, beating Metallica who were widely expected to win.
1992 – The Red Hot Chili Peppers perform “Under The Bridge” on Saturday Night Live, during their performance guitarist John Frusciante plays unevenly and screams into the microphone during his background part. He would quit the band in May.
