1973Bruce Springsteen performs at Villanova University, Philadelphia, to an audience of 25 people. His concert had not been advertised due to a strike by Villanova’s school newspaper The Villanovan.

1979 – Cher and Greg Allman divorce becomes final, they got married in 1975.

1980 – Paul McCartney was jailed in Tokyo for possession of a half pound of marijuana. He spent ten days behind bars before being kicked-out of the country by Japanese authorities. The remainder of his Wings tour was canceled.

 

1988 – George Harrison hits #1 with “Got My Mind Set On You,” becoming the act with the longest time between #1 hits – it was 24 years since “Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth).”

1992Eric Clapton records Eric Clapton Unplugged for MTV. The album which included a new version of Layla would win six Grammy Awards, including Record Of The Year.

1996 – Acting on a tip that a drug trafficker’s team was leaving Montego Bay, Jamaica, authorities mistakenly fired on Jimmy Buffett’s seaplane.  U2’s was also in the plane with Buffett and luckily, neither was hurt.
