1973: Led Zeppelin were robbed $180,000 in cash when a thief stole their hotel safe deposit box from two concerts at Madison Square Garden. The crime remains unsolved.
1979: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers conclude their “Lawsuit Tour” with a show at the Universal Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Petty toured to raise money for his lengthy legal battles with MCA Records.
1987: Jerry Garcia reached an agreement with Ben & Jerry’s over the introduction of the Cherry Garcia flavor. So now 50% of royalties go to the Grateful Dead’s Rex Foundation, which continues to this day.
