1946: The late Bon Scott is born

1972: Paul McCartney appeared on stage for the first time since 1966 as his group, Wings, at a show in France.

1977: The Steve Miller Band hits #8 in the US with “Jet Airliner,” a song written by the blind folk singer Paul Pena.

1983: The Police reached number on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart for the first and only time with “Every Breath You Take” which spent eight weeks on top.

1988: Cheap Trick hits number one with “The Flame” which spent two weeks on top. The band only recorded the song to appease their record label at the time.

1995: The Grateful Dead play their last show with Jerry Garcia at Soldier Field in Chicago.
