1962 – Bob Dylan released his self-titled debut album. No one paid any attention, it was Dylan’s only album not to chart in the U.S

1971 – Jethro Tull release Aqualung, which lead singer and flutist claimed was not a concept album despite many songs about religion. The album would sell over 3 million copies in the US, their most unsuccessful.

1974 – Jefferson Airplane officially renamed themselves Jefferson Starship.

1975 – Kiss recorded parts of the ALIVE concert at Detroit’s Cobo Hall

1982 – Ozzy Osbourne’s guitarist Randy Rhoads died in a plane crash in Leesburg, FL when the plane being driven by the bands tour bus driver clipped Osbourne’s tour bus and crashed. Rhoads was 25 years old.

2001 – Aerosmith, Queen, Steely Dan, and Paul Simon were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
