1969: Joe Cocker plays his first live gig in the US.

1973: Led Zeppelin released the album Houses of the Holy featuring the classic “Over the Hills and Far Away”

1996: Phil Collins leaves Genesis on good terms, as he states he will concentrate on “Movies, some Jazz projects, and on his solo career.”

1982: On his way to a “no-nukes” rally, David Crosby crashes his car on the San Diego Freeway. Police find Quaaludes, cocaine paraphernalia, and a concealed pistol in the vehicle, but charges against him are plea bargained down to reckless driving, probation and a small fine. A few weeks later he is arrested again, this time for freebasing cocaine.

1978: Alice Cooper performs “Welcome to My Nightmare” and “School’s Out.”  on The Muppet Show

1984: Mick Fleetwood files for bankruptcy. It was just seven years prior that Fleetwood Mac released one of the biggest albums of all time.

2005: Queen kicked off their first tour without singer Freddie Mercury and Bassist John Deacon who retired. Paul Rodgers of Bad Company and Free handled lead vocal duties.
