1968 – The Jimi Hendrix Experience top of the Billboard Album Charts for the first time with their final album “Electric Ladyland”.

 

1974 – John Lennon tops of the Singles Chart for the only time as a solo artist with “Whatever Gets You thru the Night”. Elton John sang background vocals and played piano on this song.

1978 – During a concert at Madison Square Garden, Queen is joined onstage by several dozen nude women on bikes during their performance of “Bicycle Race.”

1985 – Starship’s “We Built This City” hits #1 on the singles charts. Years later it’s named Worst Song of All Time by Blender magazine.

2005 – Pink Floyd and The Kinks are inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame

2006 – Queen’s “Greatest Hits” album is named the most popular album of all time in Britain, with over 5.5 million units sold. The Beatles “Sgt. Pepper” album comes in second.
