Happy Birthday: John McVie Fleetwood Mac’s bassist born in 1945

1965 – The day after having a Thanksgiving dinner that couldn’t be beat. Arlo Guthrie and his friend clean a church in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and toss the trash down a hill when they can’t find an open dump. They are arrested, fined $25 each, and forced to pick up the garbage. After the incident Guthrie writes the iconic “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree”.

1967 – The Beatles’ music video for “Hello Goodbye” premiered on The Ed Sullivan Show however the video was banned in the U.K. because at the time there was a musician’s union ban on miming.

1968 – Cream perform their last concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The show is released three months later as Goodbye Cream.

1983 – Quiet Riot’s became the first heavy metal band with a number one record as Metal Health topped the US Album charts.

1989 – MTV’s unplugged premieres and the first episode features Squeeze performing an acoustic set.
