1974 – John Lennon makes his final concert appearance at Madison Square Garden as he performs three songs with Elton John. Elton would release the songs in 1995.
1990 – Law enforcement officials in Los Angeles announce that there’s not enough evidence to charge Axl Rose for assaulting his neighbor. The charge was that Rose had hit her over the head with a wine bottle.
1991 – In protest of lip-synching Nirvana’s Kurt Cobain sings “Smells Like Teen Spirit” in a low-pitched voice on UK’s “Top of the Pops”.
2001 – The “New York Steel” benefit concert takes place in Manhattan featuring Twisted Sister, Ace Frehley and Sebastian Bach. The funds raised go in support of the widows and children of firefighters and police officers who died in the September 11.
