1964 – Cleveland, Ohio Mayor Ralph Locker bans The Rolling Stones from Cleveland after a teenager falls from a balcony during the group’s concert. Locker comments, “Such groups do not add to the community’s culture or entertainment.”

1977 – Elton John announced his retirement during a show at Wembley Stadium. He starts touring again in 1979.

1979 -The Eagles’ album “The Long Run” begins a nine week run at the top of the US album charts

1991 – Thousands of fans turn up for a free concert in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. The event featuring Crosby, Stills Nash & Young, The Grateful Dead and Journey was held to honor Bill Graham, who died the week before.
