1966 – Jeff Beck quits The Yardbirds after a year and a half in the band. He would later form his own group, the Jeff Beck Group.
1974 – Elton John’s “Greatest Hits” began a ten week run on top of the US Album Chart, it’s his fifth consecutive number one album!
1977 – Bing Crosby’s last Christmas special airs. The program features Bing’s unusual duet with David Bowie on “Peace on Earth/Little Drummer Boy”. Bowie later said he appeared on the special because “I just knew my mother liked him.”
1979 –Pink Floyd’s double album “The Wall” is released. The concept album of isolation and despair has sold more than 13 million copies and featured the number 1 hit “Another Brick In The Wall (part II)”.
