1965 – Jimi Hendrix signs his first recording contract. The 3-year deal with PPX productions gives him one dollar plus one percent of his royalties on his records. This deal causes major legal issues for many many years.

1968 – Led Zeppelin performed their first concert as Led Zeppelin at Surrey University in the U.K.

1980 – Everything must go! London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios auctions off thousands of dollars of equipment, including some used on Beatles recordings.

1987 – One of the influential albums for guitarists is released as Joe Satriani’s releases his “Surfing with the Alien” album. The popular all-instrumental album kicks open the door for similarly styled “guitar shred” albums.

1995 – Paul and Linda McCartney appear on an episode of The Simpsons where they help Lisa become a vegetarian. Paul explains that when you play “Maybe I’m Amazed” backwards, you’ll hear a recipe for lentil soup.
