Happy Birthday: Bill Wyman-bassist for The Rolling Stones born in 1936

1967 – Pink Floyd cancels their first U.S. tour after Syd Barrett refuses to lip-synch “Arnold Layne” when they appeared on American Bandstand.

1970 –  Santana scores their first number album with “Abraxas”.

1979 – Paul McCartney receives a rhodium medallion from the British government after he was declared the most successful composer of all time

1988 – Creedence Clearwater Revival’s John Fogerty is sued by his former boss and Fantasy Records head Saul Zanetz for allegedly plagiarizing himself. Zanetz claims Fogerty re-wrote Creedence Clearwater Revival’s “Run Through the Jungle” for his 1985 hit “The Old Man Down the Road”. Fogerty wins the case.

2005 – Cream do a sold out three-night stand at Madison Square Garden, it’s their first US concerts since 1968.
