1971 – Allman Brothers guitarist Duane Allman dies in a motorcycle accident in Macon, GA. He was only 24.
1983 – Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of The Moon” album breaks the record for most weeks on the Billboard albums chart when it passes eclipses “Johnny’s Greatest Hits” by Johnny Mathis with 491 weeks.
1996 – Guns N’ Roses frontman Axl Rose faxes MTV, telling the network that Slash was no longer the guitarist for Guns N’ Roses & has been out of the band since 1995.
2001 – U2 perform on The Late Show with David Letterman for the first time.
2005 – Wax figures of the younger Beatles were discovered in the backroom of Madame Tussauds’ famous wax museum. The figures are auctioned off for over one hundred thousand.
