Happy Birthday: Joe Perry-guitarist for Aerosmith born in 1950

1972 – At the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, The Doors, who continued as a trio since Jim Morrison’s passing, play their last concert.

1975 – Kiss released their first live album “Alive!”

1979 – The Who performed their first US concert with new Drummer Kenney Jones at a show in New Jersey.

1988 – Guns N’ Roses top the singles chart with “Sweet Child o’ Mine”

1991 – Nirvana released their breakthrough single “Smells Like Teen Spirit”

1999 – Standin’ On The Corner Park opens in Winslow, Arizona. Inspired by mention in the Eagles song “Take It Easy,” the park features a statue of a man with a guitar standing on the corner. The location becomes a popular photo op for folks passing through Winslow.

2006 – Metallica make an appearance on “The Simpsons”
