1970: Genesis runs an ad in “Melody Maker” looking for musicians who were “determined to strive beyond existing stagnant music forms.” A gentleman by the name of Phil Collins answered the ad and eventually joined the group.

1982: Two years a day after taking a long break Fleetwood Mac kick off their “Mirage” tour in Atlanta. Their opening act is Men at Work.

1993: At the MTV Video Music Awards – Pearl Jam’s “Jeremy” video wins four awards, including Video of the Year. Pearl Jam doesn’t make another music video until  1998.

1995: The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame opens their doors in Cleveland, with opening ceremony performances by The Allman Brothers Band, The Pretenders, John Fogerty, John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen.

2000: About 700 Def Leppard fans receive a refund at an Oregon State Fair concert as the band was accused of playing too quietly in order to obey local noise ordinances. Hey turn that up, Man!
