Daniel was nominated by his father William:
Daniel is my Son. He is a Married Father of 4 and is doing wonderful things in the Army. Initially, Daniel decided to follow in my footsteps and become a Police Officer. A job he excelled at and won many awards for DUI Enforcement and overall performance. After a very successful 10 year career he then decided to also join the Army just like Dad did back in 1979. He is currently the student 1st Sargent of his company and was named Soldier of the Month just last week. He graduates from AIT in approximately 60 days and will be moving to his 1st duty station in Georgia. He has dominated every task he has undertaken in the Army and achieved “Gold Status” giving him off base weekend leaves and allowing him to use his personal vehicle. His command staff has only positive things to say about Daniel and has supported his decisions while leading his fellow soldiers every day.Daniel has a Heart for service as demonstrated by his fine work as a Police Officer for the Newport News Police Department, The Smithfield Police Department and as a Deputy Sheriff for Isle of Wight County where I was fortunate enough to work with my Son when he first began his career as a Law Enforcement Officer. Daniel’s Basic Training in South Carolina was difficult as he was away from his Wife, four children, and the rest of his family for many months but he concentrated his efforts and graduated as the platoon leader there. His Advanced training here at Ft. Eustis has also proven to be very difficult but he has mastered so much and can tell you everything you ever wanted to know about helicopters and military procedures. Daniel has done so well in the military all while maintaining an extremely strong relationship with his wife Brandy and being an excellent Father to his children. Daniel was born here in Hampton and has been a loyal fan of FM99 since the day his Mother and I began playing it for him and his 2 sisters and if he were to be granted this tremendous honor by FM99 it would be a thrill and memory that he can take with him to Georgia and beyond. I could type for hours about the lives he saved as a Police Officer and the untold countless number of people that Daniel has personally helped in their particular time of need. Just since joining the Army I know that he has helped many of his fellow soldiers in many ways. One example is personally helping to bring the Wife and Child of one of his fellow soldiers here for an extended visit from out of state. He picked up the tab for the trip and allowed the Wife and Baby to reside at his home, for free, for the duration of the trip. This is just one small example of Daniel’s generosity and giving heart. I’m sure you can tell by now that we are so very proud of our Son and all of the wonderful things he continues to do to help serve his fellow man. I have no doubt that great things await Daniel in his future career as an Army soldier and his Mother and I are so very blessed to have Daniel as our Son. Thank you for your consideration of Daniel for the Military Hero of the Week and I pray that he is chosen. Daniel is now and forever will be our Hero.
