Master Gunnery Sergeant Dennis Wolterding was nominated by Shirley, who had the following to say about him: “Signed up at age 17, was in Beirut when they bombed our boys there, the second Persian Gulf war and then on to Afghanistan for back-to-back tours. Thirty-two years later he has retired.”
