Derek Wilson, US Marines

Derek was nominated by his brother Cody.

Well I don’t know where to start but I’ll go with he’s my brother and the raddest guy you could have the pleasure to meet. He’s to damn humble and big hearted for his own good. He did two tours and on his second one he got shot and choose to go back with no recovery time to his unit in Afghanistan. Back in the fight a month later he was the first guy in his patrol and would have laid his life down for me and anyone else in this whole country. He is a real American. I’ve seen him take the shirt off his back for another, feed random homeless people. When he has had anything, we all had it. I’m nominating him because I’ve watched him over the years lose everything. Literally everything. Maybe he doesn’t deserve this nomination. His unit didn’t give him any recognition for his purple heart.  But I nominated him because he stood on his two feet and still does in the face of defeat and smiles finds some reason to be happy when he deserves so much more for his willingness to give, protect and look out for others that I’m not sure would go half his distance because he has walked the world for us all.  I feel like this is my shot at doing something for him when hes done as much as he has. I just want to say thank you if you read this thru. That’s my brother, one wild ass dude and an American hero in my book.
