Master Chief Joe Schnurbusch was nominated by Len, who had the following to say about him: “Joe served 30 years, honorably in the United States Navy. His major commands were an amphibious L Deck and the Command Master Chief in Naval Amphibious Base, Little Creek. Throughout Joes career he was an absolute top performing enlisted leader, mentoring and providing career development for thousands of Sailors and U.S. Marines. Bottom line – Joe took care of deck plate Sailors in every military combatant platform. He didn’t stop there. Post career Joe was single-handedly chosen as Deputy Director for the Hampton Roads Navy and Marine Corps Relief Society. He held this position for decades and continued to serve military families, active service members, and military retirees. It does not stop there. Recently, and after a bout of cancer, Joe trekked the Appalachian Trail. Joe is most deserving of this recognition as he continues to embody the best as a great American.”
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, JOE!
