Matthew Adams, US Marines

Matthew was nominated by his wife Ayla Adams:

My nominee is my husband Matthew Adams. He has been in the Marine Corps Reserves for 11 years. He served two tours, one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He hasn’t only sacrificed for his country by deploying he also spends time volunteering for veteran causes. He volunteers to help his current Marine unit. He has brought gifts to and fished with the vets at the Hampton veterans hospital. He also uses his civilian career to help military members, vets, their families and the civilian population get assistance and support in various ways. He has worked to help veteran groups get grants and funding and he has helped find stable employment for veterans and service members. He is also active with a local chapter of the VFW and volunteers through this organization as well. While he is doing all of this he works a full time job in outreach, helping individuals find alternative ways to pay their electricity bills when they are in need. He still actively drills and is a full time student, father and, husband of three. He amazes me everyday with his drive motivation and empathy for those in the community. He never asks for recognition for the things he does but does them because he is able to give back to the country and community he loves and values. He is also a avid hunter and fisherman with a great sense of humor and a friendly and outgoing individual! He is a true hero and I hope you all consider him for the hero of the week! Thank you 🙂
