1LT Mike Johnson, USMC was killed in action on September 8th, 2009 in Gangjal, Afghanistan. Although, cut-off, out-gunned and out numbered, Mike and his unit ETT 2-8 continued to take the fight to the enemy allowing the rest of the column to escape a well entrenched and coordinated ambush by the Taliban. Mike was 25 years old and respected by all who knew him. He will always be our hero.
