Military Hero
Petty Officer First Class Hannah Hanson was nominated by her husband Cody, who had the following to say about her: "My wife is currently stationed on the USS Eisenhower and just returned from their deployment to the Red Sea. As a prior service Marine and current dependent, the strength she displayed throughout this deployment has left no doubt in my mind of who my own personal hero is in this world. To have achieved what she has, all the while maintaining our home life as her number one priority, is something I will forever be grateful to the Lord for having her in my life."
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE, HANNAH!

“Rick has led an amazing career in the Coast Guard! He recently retired after 31 years of active military service and loves listening to classic rock, so I knew this would be appropriate! He has served 10+ tours across the nation for the Coast Guard in positions such as Migrant Interdiction, Port Authority, and as the captain of a buoy tender, the CGC Juniper. Rick’s career also had many accolades. One of my favorites was in 1994, when, upon seeing an infant separated from its mother in the water during a Haitian Migrant Interdiction, Rick dove in head-first, dressed fully in law enforcement gear, to save the infant from drowning. He is cited for this within the Coast Guard Academy’s Hall of Heros. On top of his career, he also has volunteered for the national ski patrol as a senior alpine patroller for 35+ years now, and is an amazing father to five children, four of which are internationally adopted. He is a hero to me, and a big inspiration to everybody around him!”
“Signed up at age 17, was in Beirut when they bombed our boys there, the second Persian Gulf war and then on to Afghanistan for back-to-back tours. Thirty-two years later he has retired.”
“He is my sons best friend and almost like my adopted son. He served his country for over 10 years until he was medically discharged. He dedicated his life to the Navy and even when he diagnosed with diabetes and cancer, he kept pushing on and continued serving until he was no longer was able to. He has a wife and two daughters whom are his life. Both of his parents are disabled and he is always there to help them but he is like that with everyone he meets. In my eyes he will always be a Military Hero.”
“Dedicated to his country for over 20 years, began his career as an enlisted soldier and completed the transition to officer and has since been promoted and awarded multiple times to his current rank. He officially got his retirement orders last week. He’s the most dedicated person I know to his family and country. He’s an all around great person, want to say thank you for his service and enjoy retirement, you deserve it! You find a better person in the world.”
“My husband joined the Navy July 18, 1990, and will be retiring after 34 years of Navy Service this year. He went through the enlisted ranks up to Chief and then was commissioned to Officer and will retire as a Commander. We are so proud of him and all he has accomplished during his time in the navy. We met while we were both stationed in Charleston and have been married 25 years. It was tough as a dual military family, but we made it work and our kids/family are better for it! With 34 years of service, he has done so much, mentored so many, helped so many in their careers, stationed at many commands, held many positions, and has been a wonderful husband, dad, son, brother and friend. We are proud of you and cannot wait to have you home and to start our next chapter as a navy retired family. Thank you for ALL you do, for everyone you know! I nominate my husband because he deserves to be recognized for all he has done in his many years of service to our country.”
MAC Dalrymple is getting ready to retire 7/31/2024 after 20 years of dedicated service to the US Navy. He sacrificed family time to deploy and defend our great country. He is an amazing man and has done wonderful things to protect each and every one of us. He is a great example of what honor, courage and commitment means to other Navy veterans like myself.
“I could not be prouder of the man I met in Washington state 4 years ago. Xavier came of the fast attack sub Connecticut shortly after the grounding that he was onboard for which caused serious damage to the ship and some of the crew aboard it. He is so hard working and always ready to lend a hand or the shirt of his back. Xavier is a fantastic role model to the junior sailors he works with, and he strives to be the person they call if they are in a pinch. A few weeks after we moved here, we drove out at 930 PM to meet one of his sailors 45 minutes away at Lowes to load up a fridge and take it an hour back to the sailor’s house, as his families had gone out at work and his young wife and kids needed a replacement ASAP. That’s just one of the many things he does constantly that makes him the hero I know him to be, and will always be.”
“When you think of a sailor, an American, and military woman, my wife is the definition. She continues to push the bar in her life whether it is in the reserves or her current job as a contractor. She has dedicated her entire adult life to the military and being a top notch Gunners Mate. I nominate her for her mentorship to junior sailors, me, and her kids.”
“My husband was in two IED explosions. He spent 6 months in Germany in a coma recuperating. He then came home to Bethesda, Maryland, and then here to VA in Hampton. It’s been years since my husband was forced to get out due to his medical conditions. He’s a 100 percent Disabled Veteran and even though you can’t see his physical scars the mental and emotional ones still remain. I’m so proud of my husband and how far he has come over the years to be the productive, caring, loving husband, father, brother and friend he is. Even if he’s not selected to this, he will always be my superhero.”
