Richard Meadows, US Army-Infantry

Richard was nominated by his mother Jeanne:

Richard, my son, served in the Infantry in the heart of Iraq’s war in 2007 and in Afghanistan in 2009 with the 101rst Screaming Eagles. In Iraq he was stationed in the area called the ” The death triangle” and in Afghanistan he was with the troops that chased the Taliban out of their birthplace. He is now discharged honorably and is rated as 80%disabled. He is going to school on his GI bill for a Homeland Security degree and living on his own. I am so proud of his service and so thankful for a son like him. I am humbled by him every time I see him give the last few dollars he has in his wallet and to his name, to a homeless person on the street. He truly has a heart of gold although he would not admit that.
