Petty Officer First Class William Dewhirst was nominated by Sarah Dewhirst, who had the following to say about him: “PO1 Dewhirst proudly served 20 years in the United States Navy. He completed two deployments on the USS Enterprise and was stationed at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD. During his second half of his career, he became a career counselor for junior sailors and helped guide many when choosing their path. Will retired in 2022, but still remains in contact with his sailors and always makes himself available when they need advise.”
