Before John Kay and Steppenwolf scored a hit with “Born to Be Wild” the song was originally done by Canadian artist Mars Bonfire. The song was shopped around and Mars brother happened to be the drummer in Steppenwolf… the rest you can say is rock and roll history.
Steve Miller scored a huge hit with “Jet Airliner” that song was brought to his producer who recorded this song with Paul Pena in 1973. It took years for Paul’s version to be released, long after Steve released it. The original version was a little more bluesy.
“Love Hurts” was covered by many artists and Nazareth happened to be the band that scored the biggest hit with it. One of the early versions goes back to the Everly Brothers.
Nirvana covered “The Man Who Sold The World” for their unplugged album. While Kurt Cobain mentions it was a David Bowie song it just feels like a Nirvana song if you didn’t know Bowie’s version. The cover is pretty straight forward.
