Perhaps the greatest and most recognizable Saxophone work in classic rock belong to Raphael Ravenscroft. Raphael passed away over the weekend according to The British Telegram, he was sixty and it’s believed has died of a heart attack.
Oddly as much fame as Baker Street brought to Raphael, he wasn’t paid much for it, the check bounced, and wasn’t a fan of the song as in a 2011 interview he said the song annoyed him.
Raphael did work with other artists throughout his career including Pink Floyd, Abba and Marvin Gaye to name a few.
He also played on Robert Plant’s “Pledge Pin” from Pictures at Eleven.
