1980 – Brian Johnson joins AC/DC, replacing Bon Scott who had died after a drinks binge in February 1980.

1980 – R.E.M. played their first gig as R.E.M. at the 11:11 Koffee Club, Athens, Georgia. 150 people were in attendance and the showed ended when Police closed the venue for being unlicensed.

1999 – Neil Young performed at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden, but the venue mistakenly billed him as Bob Dylan. Neil Young chimed in during the concert “That was Bob playing guitar with me on the last song.”

2001 – David Lee Roth confirmed internet rumors that he briefly reunited with Van Halen the previous Summer and wrote new songs with Eddie Van Halen but had not been in contact with the band since then. Roth later rejoined Van Halen in 2006.

2008 – The first Record Store Day was held. The event was founded to celebrate the culture of the independently owned record store.
