1990: Paul McCartney sets a new world record for concert attendance by a single artist as 184,000 people watched him perform at a concert in Rio.

1990: Van Halen performed at the opening night of its “Cabo Wabo Cantina” in Mexico. The venue was initially a failure Sammy Hagar would buy out his band-mates, years later the venue would became a major resort.

2001: R.E.M.’s Peter Buck was arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport after allegedly assaulting crewmembers while drunk during a flight from Seattle to London. The next year Buck was later found innocent of all charges.

2005: Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson was sentenced to 12 months-probation stemming from resisting arrest during a run in with the law in Naples, Florida on New Year’s Eve 2003.
