1971 – The Rolling Stones release the great album Sticky Fingers. It‘s their first release on their newly-formed label, Rolling Stones Records. The album cover was designed by Andy Warhol and featured a working zipper.
1994 – Pink Floyd’s The Division Bell album hit #1 in the US.
2003 – Pearl Jam purchased a 1,400 square-mile area of rainforest in Madagascar to compensate for the 5,700 tons of greenhouse gas emissions they estimated that they will incur on their tour of North America.
2005 – YouTube launches. It works so well that Google can’t beat it (they try with something called Google Video), so in 2006 they buy it. It eventually becomes the most popular place to hear music for free.
