1968 – Apple Records refused to sign David Bowie.

1976 – Saturday Night Live’s Lorne Michaels goes on camera to offer the Beatles $3,000 (union scale) to reunite on the show. 1989 – Tom Petty released his debut solo album Full Moon Fever, which would become his biggest solo album of his career, selling five million copies. The album was initially rejected by his record label and features “I Won’t Back Down”, “Runnin’ Down a Dream” and “Free Fallin’”

1996 – After canceling a few shows, Stone Temple Pilots issue a statement saying that lead singer Scott Weiland has “become unable to rehearse or appear for these shows due to his dependency on drugs.” Weiland’s relationship with his bandmates suffers and they take a break from each other for nearly 2 years.
