1975: Ritchie Blackmore left Deep Purple to form Rainbow with Ronnie James Dio.
1988: Alice Cooper nearly dies on stage in London when a stunt goes wrong. A piano wire that keeps him safely suspended during a gallows stunt snapped and Alice nearly hangs himself. A quick thinking roadie rescues him and Alice is able to continue the show.
1990: Guns and Roses play Farm Aid IV in Indianapolis, it’s drummer Steven Adler’s last show with the band as he’s fired as his drug addiction is taking a toll on his playing.
2008: Bob Dylan was the first rock star to earn an honorary Pulitzer Prize for his “profound impact on popular music and American culture.”
2017: Pearl Jam, Electric Light Orchestra, Journey, Joan Baez and Yes are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
