1967: The Monterey Pop Festival kicked off in Monterey, CA. Performers such as The Who, Jefferson Airplane and others. All artists performed for free except at the event for Ravi Shankar. The event also featured Jimi Hendrix lighting his guitar on fire and smashing it on stage. The event would make Hendrix a star around the world

1982: During a 38 Special concert in Tulsa, OK, lead singer Donnie Van Zant is arrested onstage for drinking alcohol in a public place. Tulsa was a dry town.
