Happy Birthday – Ian Hunter-singer for Mott the Hoople born in 1946

1970 – Who paid for the airfare? Ray Davies of the Kinks flies round trip from New York to London to change the word coca cola to cherry cola in the song “Lola” due to an advertising ban on the BBC.

1972 – Jethro Tull hits number 1 on the album chart with their concept album Thick as a Brick. The album is one song broken up into two parts.

1993 –  U2 signed a Six-album deal with $60 million with Island Records.

1998 – Van Halen cancels their Hamburg, Germany concert after drummer Alex Van Halen bruises his arm after plaster chunks fell from the ceiling during a soundcheck.

2003 –  The Doors settled a lawsuit with departed drummer Stewart Copeland.  Copeland had filed the lawsuit arguing breach of contract after he was replaced in the reunited group.
