1967: During Jimi Hendrix’s appearance on the BBC’s Top of the Pops to lip sync a performance of “Purple Haze”, a technician mistakenly cued Alan Price’s “Simon Smith and His Amazing Dancing Bear” instead to which Hendrix replied “I don’t know the words to that one man.”
1984: Greg Lake leaves Asia to be replaced by the bassist he initially replaced, John Wetton.
1994: Pink Floyd kick off their last tour in Miami, Florida to promote their Division Bell album.
2011: Harper/Collins announced that Billy Joel had decided to back out of publishing his memoirs. Billy was paid $3 Million in advance, but decided that he wasn’t interested in talking about the past so didn’t finish the book.
