1969 –  Pete Townshend spends the night in a New York City jail and is fined $30 after assaulting a man who jumped onstage during a Who concert at The Fillmore East. It turned out it wasn’t a fan but a police officer trying to warn the audience that a fire had broken out, which Townshend wasn’t aware of.

1970 – Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young hits number one with Déjà Vu. The album has sold more than seven million copies in the U.S.

1974 – Queen end their first US tour early when guitarist Brian May comes down with hepatitis.

1984 – Ozzy Osbourne was arrested in Memphis on charges of public intoxication. According to the police report, Osbourne was “staggering drunk”.

1987 – U2 hits number 1 for the first time with “With or Without You”.

1998 –  Keith Richards falls of his ladder in his library and breaks his ribs. The Rolling Stones had to reschedule several dates of their European tour.

2010 – Ronnie James Dio, singer for Rainbow, Black Sabbath & Dio died of stomach cancer in Houston. He was 67 years old.
