1987 – Tom Petty’s home in Encino, California, burns to the ground. Petty and his family escape unharmed, but are traumatized by the blaze, which is determined to be arson. The perpetrator is never caught. The cost of damages was estimated at $800,000.
1989 – Rolling Stones’ Bill Wyman opens his Sticky Fingers restaurant in London. The restaurant is still open.
2000 – This restaurant eventually closed… as The Eagles filed a lawsuit against a restaurant called Hotel California Grill for allegedly violating a trademark. The owner commented “This is a restaurant, not a song. We’re not infringing on the rights of Don Henley, Glenn Frey or anyone.
2017 – Soundgarden and Audioslave lead singer Chris Cornell dies at the age of 52.
