1968 – During a plane ride after playing with his band Bluesology, keyboard player Reginald Dwight looks for a stage name he can use for his solo career. He find’s the band’s horn player Elton Dean and lead singer Long John Baldry, and asks them if he can appropriate their names into a new one for himself. They agree, and Elton John is born.
1984 – Roger Waters releases his first solo album since leaving Pink Floyd, it’s an album called The Pros And Cons Of Hitch Hiking.
1994 -Rush set the record for most performances at Toronto’s Maple Leaf Gardens with their 22nd concert at the venue.
1994 – Randy Bachman leads 1,322 guitarists for a performance of “Takin’ Care of Business” to set a world record the largest number of people playing the same song simultaneously. The record would only last for two years.
1998 – Steve Perry leaves Journey when other members of the band decide to tour without him. Drummer Steve Smith also left the group.
2016 – Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose takes over as AC/DC’s lead singer as Brian Johnson has to leave the tour or otherwise face permanent hearing loss. Rose will perform all the remaining dates with AC/DC as a guest vocalist.
