Military Hero

Chris was nominated by a friend: I've known Chris most of my life, he has always been the Captain America type of guy. He was always there to lend a helping hand, be right there no matter the time of day or night. After four years of NJROTC, and graduating high school, he signed up for the Marines; Infantry of course. His first deployment was to the Sri Lanka to provide aide after the earthquake. His second deployment was to Afghanistan in 2009. This forever changed his life and those who love him. While doing a mine sweep in a "seven ton" his truck hit and IED, causing him Traumatic Brain Injury. After the deployment ended, and he returned to Lejune, he was was officially. Diagnosed and after many months, he was finally medically retired from the US Marine Corps. Since his retirement, Chris has gone on to lead the most normal civilian life as possible. Due to the TBI daily tasks are a continued battle against migraines, memory issues, anger, lack of sleep, among other things. Chris was never recognized for what took place the day of the explosion, because the diagnosis was after his return home. I would like to see him be happy, and recognized for the suffering endured and continues to endure.
