1966 – Buffalo Springfield featuring Neil Young and Stephen Stills forms in Los Angeles.

1967 – The Jeff Beck Group with Rod Stewart on vocals & Ron Wood on bass started their first tour in London to support Roy Orbison & The Small Faces. Due to poor reviews, the band was asked not to complete the tour.

1978 – Van Halen begin their first US tour in Chicago as the opening act for Journey. Their tour rider had the legendary “brown M&Ms” provision in their contract.

1986 – Metallica released the very influential album Master of Puppets.

1994 – The Smashing Pumpkins were banned from appearing on BBC TV’s Top Of The Pops due to the content of the song ‘Disarm’.

1995 – Foo Fighters made their live debut during a benefit show in Portland, Oregon.

2018 – Journey’s “Greatest Hits” album became just the third album to spend 500 weeks on the Billboard 200 album charts.
