Military Hero

Doug was nominated by Kelly Jordan: What can’t I say about my hero? He is an amazing husband, father, and mentor. He has proudly served over 28 years in the Naval Submarine Force, commanding TWO submarines and most recently serving as the first Chief of Staff for the new Submarine Group 2 stationed here in Norfolk. During this time, with over 12 deployments taking him away from us, he has always found a way to remind us that we were #1 – from leaving flowers to be delivered for a wedding anniversary he will miss, or recording a beautiful message for his daughter on the graduation day he would not be there for. Over the years, he has been a faithful listener of the Rumble and crew morning show – even if it meant streaming on his computer or phone hundreds (and even thousands) of miles away. When we got married almost 25 years ago, we never realized how crazy this military life would be - but with all the ups and downs over those years, we would hardly change a thing! It is a privilege to stand beside a man who sacrifices not just for his wife and family, but for this nation, which he loves so much. It has never been a burden for him to serve, but an honor that extends into his everyday life. It is my honor to nominate my husband, CAPT Doug Jordan, for your military hero of the week, because he is our hero every day.
